2000- 2002

  • USKO is re-branded as Bytes Technology Group Limited (Bytes) and the IT interests of Fintech are purchased by BTG to    consolidate the group’s IT under Bytes.
  • Bytes evolves from merger of the businesses of USKO and Fintech
  • Shares consolidated on 30:1 basis
  • Substantial restructuring and re-focusing initiated
  • Bytes Healthcare Solutions (BHS) formed by merging Mediswitch and QEDI
  • Minority interests acquired in Uskotec (Bytes Software) and Alcatel Business Systems
       (Bytes Communication Systems)
  • First IT company for many years to pay cash dividend (12c per share).

2002 – 2003

  • Core earnings improve 33%
  • All operations move to profitability
  • Dividend – 16c per share
  • Xerox operation becomes 100% owned after acquisition of Xerox Limited’s 50% plus 1 share
  • Acquisition of Plato in the United Kingdom

2003 - 2004

  • Bytes sell 27% of its Bytes South African operations to Kagiso in a BEE deal
  • Bytes purchases CS Holdings as well as 50% of Xerox SA from Xerox International to move to 100% ownership and re-brands    Xerox SA as Bytes Document Solutions
  • Xerox exclusive distribution agreement renewed for further 10 years
  • Xerox distribution rights increased to 22 African countries
  • Operating margin improved to 7.1% from 5.5%
  • Acquired storage business – Optitek
  • Dividend – 22c per share

2004 – 2005

  • Kagiso introduced as 27% BEE partner in South African operations Acquisition of 100% of the CSH group of operations
  • Staff complement grows to over 3500
  • Market recognition reflected in share price – up 31%
  • Dividend – 32c per share

2005 – 2006

  • Re-invested in asset financing business (TAR)
  • Acquisition of remaining 61%
  • Operating margin reaches 8%
  • Ranked 10th overall in Financial Mail Top 200 Companies Empowerment Survey
  • Share price appreciates further by over 57%
  • Dividend – 45c per share.

2006 – 2007

  • Revenue exceeds R4b for the first time
  • Ranked 1st in ICT Sector in Financial Mail Top 200 Companies Empowerment Survey (8th overall on JSE)
  • UK operations expanded through acquisition of 2 Xerox concessionaires, Xclusive Solutions and Vantage  Business Systems
  • Various “bolt on” acquisitions made locally
  • Decision taken to dispose of Plato operation in UK
  • Dividend – 56c per share.

2008

  • The acquisition by Altron of the minority shareholders in Bytes Technology Group Limited for R1.4 billion. Byte was de-    listed from the JSE Limited.
  • The acquisition by Bytes of Intelleca.
  • The acquisition by Bytes of Nor Paper

2009

  • Bytes Document Solutions announced “Partner of the Year” and wins “Productivity Through Partnerships” award at the     XEROX Middle East and Africa Operations Conference held in Dubai
  • Bytes Document Solutions upgrades its support structure and presence in Zimbabwe by appointing Document Support Centre    as its exclusive distributor in our neighbouring country.
  • Bytes Connect Services has clinched a three-year R100 million contract to manage and operate Neotel’s customer care    contact centre.
  • Bytes Systems Integration awarded the 2009 South African Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Competitive Strategy    award by Frost & Sullivan, an international consulting and research company.
